Gorge Dining with Kids: Our Go-To Spots

If you’ve spent any time exploring the Columbia River Gorge with kids, you already know the drill: snacks help, but a solid, kid-friendly restaurant stop can make or break the day. The Gorge has plenty of spots that welcome families with open arms, I’ve compiled a list of some of our favorites.

Our Favorite Kid-Friendly Food Spots in the Gorge

White Salmon Baking Co.
This is our go-to morning stop. Think fresh sourdough bread, pastries, and simple breakfast/lunch options made with local ingredients. We’ll grab a croissant, sit for a minute (or not). It’s cozy in the colder months and just as good on a sunny patio day.

Hood River Common House

This cute bottle shop slash bar is warm and welcoming, with a dedicated area full of toys, books, and activities that keep little ones happily occupied. It’s the kind of place where parents can linger over a good glass of wine, no stress, no side-eyes. Whether you’re meeting friends or just need an easy outing, it’s a go-to for family-friendly vibes without sacrificing quality. Check their instagram as they often feature guest chefs for unique pop up experiences.

Everybody’s Brewing
If you’re looking for that perfect mix of laid-back, kid-friendly, and good food, this is one of the best stops in the Gorge. Sitting up in White Salmon just across the bridge, it has some of the best views in the area, think sweeping Columbia River + Mt. Hood scenery from their outdoor deck. The vibe here is what makes it stand out, designed to feel like a community hangout where everyone’s welcome.

The Walled Garden (Kings & Daughters)
This one feels a little tucked away and special, but still super approachable with kids. It’s an indoor/outdoor pub-style space with a big open vibe and a food truck serving simple, European-inspired dishes like sandwiches and salads. Lots of room to move and just a really easy place to land.

Ferment Brewing Company
This is one of our favorite “everyone’s happy” spots. It’s right on the waterfront with tons of space, good food, and a menu that goes beyond typical brewery food. The views of the river are unreal and the outdoor patio is a great place for kids.

Divots Restaurant at Indian Creek Golf Course

An underrated, super easy win with kids. Divots has that laid-back golf course vibe, open space, casual seating and sunny patio chairs overlooking the putting green with great views of Mt. Hood. Bonus points for happy hour from 3-5!

KickStand Coffee & Kitchen

If you’re looking for one of those easy, no-brainer spots with kids, this is it. KickStand Coffee & Kitchen is super casual, super welcoming, and exactly the kind of place you can roll into after a hike without overthinking it. There’s usually plenty of space, and it has that community feel where families, locals, and weekend visitors all mix together. Make sure to check out Goodwyn’s Hood River next door to shop mountain bike and snow equipment. Have a quick pint with John or Danny in their laid back retail environment.

Cor Winery

If you’re looking to mix in a slightly more elevated stop while still keeping that relaxed Gorge vibe, COR is one of those places that just feels special.

Tucked above the river in Lyle, this winery is known for its light-filled, modern tasting room and sweeping Gorge views, with Mt. Hood often stealing the show in the background. The space is what really sets it apart. There’s a central courtyard, cozy seating areas, and a calm, airy feel that makes it a great stop during a beautiful Gorge day.
